From the moment I contacted Mr Ramakrishnan, everything went smooth and felt like this choice was meant to be.

Not only having to face with the shock of diagnosis, living abroad gave me a little choice in the treatment options.  As simultaneous reconstruction was not available in the country I am staying, I opted for a private care with the latest technique and best surgeon in the UK.  My queries were always answered promptly and thoroughly and Mr Ramakrishnan was always helpful and straight to the points.  When I eventually met Mr Ramakrishnan and his team in person, it was very easy to convince myself that I would be in the safe hands.

Back in 2010 I entrusted Mr Ramakrishnan with a neck and lower jaw facelift. This was my first operation and I was very pleased with the result. In November 2011, I underwent a subcutaneous mastectomy to remove a breast tumor.  Unfortunately the implant was exposed after several weeks and it was removed.  I had to wear a prosthesis for over a year and this was effecting my self-esteem and confidence. Thanks to my cousin Dr. Charlot Grech , who is a consultant dermatologist in Kent, I was referred through him  to Mr Ramakrishnan for a delayed DIEP flap , since in my country , Malta, this type of surgery is not done.

I was very glad when I met Mr Ramakrishnan and he confirmed that I could have the DIEP flap. It’s been a year since now, and no words can express my gratitude towards Mr Ramakrishnan for the good job, care and dedication he delivered to me as a patient. The nurses and medics were very nice, excellent in their profession and caring. I spent 4 days at HDU in Nuffield and was given all the attention a patient requires after a major procedure. I had to stay 4 weeks in the UK to recover but I have no regrets whatsoever.

After research I found Mr Ramakrishnan 15 years ago for breast augmentation. I had a number of consultations with him before the surgery and he made me feel at ease and answered all my questions. He is a very skilled surgeon and has a very kind, gentle manner. Last year, for medical reasons, I had to have my implants replaced and was so relieved to find that Mr Ramakrishnan was still consulting as I would be very apprehensive to have another consultant do the surgery. He is very experienced in this field and ,although, a more complicated procedure, the operation went very well and am very pleased with the outcome. 4 years ago I received the unfortunate news that I was BRCA 2 positive. After my initial shock my long journey of research into preventative mastectomies and reconstruction began. This journey took me down several long roads. However, it was only on speaking to Mr Ramakrishnan that I knew I was finally on the right road. As a Mum to four small children travelling abroad to have my surgery was a huge decision. Once I met Mr Ramakrishnan I knew it was the only decision for myself and my family. The pre-care and attention I was given was fantastic. Mr Ramakrishnan himself and all of his staff were at the end of the telephone 24/7 and in fact rang me regularly in the weeks leading up to the surgery simply to chat and to talk me through every part of my journey.

I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2018 and was advised that a mastectomy and breast reconstruction would be the ideal treatment. I was soon introduced to Professor Venkat Ramakrishnan at the Nuffield Brentwood Hospital. I was scared, nervous and unsure as to what the future had in store for me.

At my first consultation, Professor Ramakrishnan was most caring and understanding. He had excellent listening skills and sensitively explained that the best route for me was to have a DIEP flap reconstruction. Before making any final decision I was strongly encouraged to attend the Professors Bra Group Meetings of patients who were in various stages of recovery from a similar operation. I was hesitant to attend at first, but the benefit of listening and hearing the accounts of other ladies in a similar situatwas very beneficial.

I was given the best possible treatment during my surgery and was constantly reassured by Professor Ramakrishnan. He explained everything in clear and simple terms and I quickly had faith and confidence in his approach. A couple of days after the surgery, whilst still in the hospital there was a complication. The Professor was contacted at his home and he immediately returned to the hospital to assist me and give me and my family further reassurance. Nothing is too much trouble for this man.

Having a mastectomy and a DIEP flap reconstruction is not a quick fix. It is a journey. But now two years on I have been discharged from his clinic and I can honestly say that I am delighted with the first-class treatment I received.

I decided to have inverted nipple surgery due to the effect it was making to my personal life, confidence and relationships. I knew 100% I wanted to go ahead and so I returned and booked a date for surgery. Dr Ramakrishnan remained honest, sincere and trustworthy throughout and I whole heartedly trusted him to carry out a good procedure for me. My surgery was on the 22nd October 2015 where I was accompanied by two lovely nurses – Leigh and Deborah (who are an absolute credit to the Nuffield Hospital) as well as Dr Ramakrishnan. The level of care received before and after my surgery was brilliant, and I can safely say I am more than delighted that I went ahead with the surgery, especially at this hospital with this surgeon. It has now been six months since surgery and it has dramatically changed my life and confidence, and I cannot express my thanks and gratitude enough to Dr Ramakrishnan for carrying out this procedure and remaining professional and caring throughout.

Mr Ramakrishnan is very professional but approachable. He is very reassuring, patient and has a calming manner. His staff are all caring and efficient.

I was a bundle of nerves on my first appointment, but within minutes of meeting Mr Ramakrishnan I felt calm. During this – and our subsequent visits – both myself and my husband felt that his manor was efficient but kindly, informative but – as was my wish – without the gory details. He involved my husband at every opportunity and made sure that he understood what was happening as well as myself, and didn’t make him feel like he was being a nuisance.

My surgery was on the cusp of the first outbreak of Covid-19 in 2020, but our follow-up appointments were still adhered to – even if it meant via video calls. The post-operative care and the fact that he made regular calls over the weekends to check my condition were in our view above and beyond. When it was required he put himself at risk so that some problems that needed his personal attention could be carried out face to face.

I cannot praise Mr Ramakrishnan – and his team – enough. For someone aged 55 who had never been into a hospital for treatment it was a big deal. But with a mixture of pre-surgery consultations & post-surgery after-care I had nothing to worry about.

Some years ago I had breast cancer & therefore had a mastectomy with an implant performed at the same time. Over the years this had become hard, misshapen & I looked loopsided in a bra & when dressed. I was referred to Professor Ramakrishnan who immediately put me at my ease, & reassured me that he could help me. The old inplant was removed & new one inserted “to fill the void”. Total success, my appearance is normal again. During the whole procedure I was treated with great kindness & reassured at every stage in my treatment. In 2011, I saw Mr Ramakrishnan at Spire Hartswood Hospital Brentwood because I had a sebaceous cyst on my chest from birth which continued to grow and grow but the NHS refused to remove it. I’m so glad that I saw him instead because he was wonderful! As other patients of his have said, he is kind, caring and straight-forward. he was also genuinely indignant about my situation and therefore went out of his way to ensure that I got the best care! Because of this, I am now rid of something that was beginning to cause me great distress and have only been left with a faint scar! Neither of us were expecting this but I think that it was due to his high level of care! Everyone with chest issues should go and see Mr Ramakrishnan as he is excellent!

Following an extremely bad leak from 30-year-old implants, there were concerns that the skin beneath the breast would be too thin to heal and could result in skin necrosis. Despite this Professor Ramakrishnan did a fantastic job in removing and replacing the old implants. The procedure went smoothly and has healed beautifully. I am so happy with the result and feel very lucky that I chose this surgeon. He is kind, understanding, incredibly professional and explains everything from start to finish. I cannot fault the care I received and would have no hesitation in recommending him.

Mr Venkat Ramakrishnan is an outstanding surgeon. I had 2 consultations with him before having the surgery done in February 2020. From the moment I walked through the door for the initial consultation I just felt at ease. The way he spoke and gave such detail explaining anything I was unsure of and listened to everything I had to say, I built my trust in him from the first day and knew he was the surgeon for me! His secretary Jo was also so helpful very efficient and professional.

On the day of the surgery I walked into the hospital of course feeling a little nervous, but the staff were amazing and as soon as I saw Ramakrishnan I just knew I was in the best hands. The surgery went so well, I was home the same evening. I had my first follow up and we were both pleased with the way things were healing. I then also had a follow up that was due during the pandemic which we had over the phone and even then the phone call was in great detail and never rushed.

I recently had my last follow up and i honestly can’t tell you how perfect the results are, exactly everything I wanted and we discussed Mr Ramakrishnan delivered. The scars are very neat and small. It has changed my life and body confidence so much.

What I love the most is that Ramakrishnan isn’t like the other surgeons who promote over social media platforms, treating you like a conveyor belt. He is honest and his results speak volumes for him with no advertising platform needed. His work and care is absolutely phenomenal.

I saw mr Ramakrishnan at Nuffield Brentwood in Oct 2018, for abdominoplasty with muscle repair. I found mr Ramakrishnan and the staff at Nuffield very professional and they always took the time to answer any questions or concerns that I had. I saw mr Ramakrishnan a few times before my surgery to give me the opportunity to ask any questions that I had. He was very reassuring to my worries.

The aftercare I received was excellent both from the staff and mr Ramakrishnan, He did not discharge me from the hospital until he was completely satisfied that I was well enough to leave, I then had regular follow up appointments and could contact them at any time if I had a problems. Where do I start everything from start to finish with mr Venkat ramakrishnan was everything I expected and more he was very kind and explained everything.
